Even though my firt MK experience was on the Wii, this game was the first MK game I ever owned, never having had a Wii of my own. It made me fall in love with the franchise, and for that alone it already has a special place in my heart. Also, I still love playing it even now.

Pros: Sports are great, controls feel good, loads of fun customisation, looks visually great Cons: No offline progression, limited customisation, not enough side modes, needs more exploration Feels like the biggest issue of this game is that it feels disappointing after Resort than the original more than anything. There is a genuinely great game and concept here, it just isn't fully realised, might be one of the few people who doesn't mind the sports mates. I even wondered how a "Switch Sports" title would do if it was the first two games remade, upgraded, and sold on the Switch, or if the game was treated as entirely separate from the OG series, even if comparison is inevitable. I know some people may look back at it fondly in a few years (like the Wii U)

I love the Wii U

A joy of a game to 100%, every other year I come back to get a 5 star save. One of the complaints I have with the "New" SMB platformers is that the big star coins are awfully painful to find, to the point that some are hidden behinind some honestly bullshit hidden area or some B-path. That is not the case on 3D Land, some are hidden out of your way but almost all of them give yoy that "eureka" moment when you come across them. Otherwise getting gold flagpoles and clearing levels with both brothers add tons of replayability to the game. Even speedrunning levels is fun. I must add that, even though the level ideas are original, they are reused few times on the regular worlds, but the special ones can get a bit repetitive, even after introducing the stone tanuki leaf, as well as the doppelganger and time attack levels. However those who'd clear all the content would get the special star stages which is a genuinely challenging level that's the culmination of everything that's featured on the game. It was a significant dificculty spike for 14 year old me, but clearing it was and still is extremely gratifying. And the technical aspect, holy fuck. Even as a big 1st party title, I still have a hard time believing a 3DS game looks that good, the art direction is incredible, animations are butter smooth and it runs perfectly on the hardware. All in all, as repetitive as it may be at times, this is a excellent 3D Mario game that is sadly often overlooked.

also not to mention, the wii u is a homebrew beast. and because it has a wii inside of it, you can even mod the wii and unlock its full potential. hell you can even bring back all of the online features from the wii and wii u like miiverse and the everyone votes channel. i bought a new wii u recently and i've been having so much fun with it

The only downside to this game is the slam. Just doesn’t feel as fun to fight ghosts as the other two. The rest is peak Luigi’s Mansion.

About polter kitty, yes, she is annoying when you play the game multiple times, but I think she’s a very nice edition to the game for people who play it for the first time. All games have something annoying, right?

I think people were more onto the 3ds than the wii u because handheld gaming is way more practical and put that ontop of the wii u’s bad launch there its apparent why most ppl dont like the wii u but the console certainly isnt bad it was a super cool console and i beloeve that they are worth picking up even at this day.

Was it worth it? is it still? Just on graphics it is fine but frame rate is garbage on the original console. I think the game appears more pure than the later installations that want to appeal to newer more modern easily impressed non-gamers that will go wow at a nice coat of paint and be contented at only that. Authenticity is superior no matter the trade off. If you can eliminate the trade offs in some balanced kind of manner then that is even better, some way that doesn't irritate you or that you can afford. I do not get excited at new games I can see through their flashy marketing and even on past products you realize that the nostalgia you in part have for older games is due to your naïve younger self's lack of perspective in life not allowing you to see through the façade and what lies truly within. Anyway they show bits and pieces in the trailers to get you hyped but it's all tricks of psychology to dangle the carrot in front of your eyes expecting you to be fooled or mesmerized about what could be a great game about the mystery of not knowing all and all this from all of that could possibly maybe exist, are all speculations to made in your young mind. After that you are pulled along by whatever its contents are and may yet again fall in a trance marveling at how wonderful that game is as you feel swept away in its world building and all that again, but in such a state like a slumber you are made hypnotically a passenger to the virtual space's vibrations good or bad and everything in-between. If you can pose commentary with a mind awake enough to tell the qualities apart from this and that then it can have less that affect and you remain less mesmerized if you are conscious of the ride. With all manner of stimuli I say less is better, less variety and focusing on those that speak to you closest that use up your limited time best and waste less of it on just bad stuff that doesn't add quality to your living. There a many kinds of a thing, of course there are, but it is up to you to chose in which ones you decide to partake in if you so chose to

The fact you have to do each of the 7 levels one at a time is so true, my games disc was scratched and I couldn’t play level 3 of gelato beach, it was the only world my game would crash on I could only play the first 2 levels, so I did the watermelon festival glitch in order to select episode 7

And here I am hoping something from luigis mansion appears in the new mario and luigi game. Egadd being present for super star saga and partners in time is always a highlight for me. Here is to hoping he is either behind the ship the bros use in brothership or is just randomly on one of the islands. Also would just love it if luigi just got a bros attack that has him pulling out the poltergust or polterpup

LM3 is a near masterpiece. My only very nitpick criticism is i wish princess Daisy was included in the game. And i wish all the floors were more interconnected via secret staircase or passages(similar to metroid fusion). Other than that the game is superb and near masterpiece.

They need to make galaxy 3 but make an option where you can play with up to 4 players

I feel called out that I’ve had barely any attachment to this game as a kid since we didn’t buy it until a little while before our Wii broke, and I have way more nostalgia for NSMB2, that’s my personal favorite in the series
